Kudumbashree launches 'Sraddha' awareness campaign to fight cancer
Kudumbashree, in collaboration with the Medical Students Collective of Kerala (Medicon), has launched the 'Sraddha' awareness campaign to provide awareness on cancer. This campaign is part of Kudumbashree’s FNHW (Food, Nutrition, Health, and Wash) activities. In the first phase, Kudumbashree neighborhood members of the Ambalapuzha and Aryad blocks of the Alappuzha district will be involved and will eventually be extended to all districts of the state. All neighborhood group members from all wards in the selected blocks will be part of the campaign. Cancer awareness classes will be conducted by Medicon Resource Persons, Neighborhood Group Gender Point Persons, and selected members. Alongside these classes, preliminary screenings will also be conducted. Once these activities are completed in all the wards, medical camps will be organized at the block level. Those diagnosed through primary screening and medical camps will be provided support for further treatment in collaboration with local health institutions. Necessary psychological and social support and counseling will be provided through Kudumbashree’s Snehitha and Gender Resource Centre. Diagnosed members will receive a referral letter and instructions for further treatment. FNHW resource persons at the district, CDS, and ADS levels will visit the homes of the affected members once a month. In association with family health centers, ASHA workers will assess their health status and provide necessary support. As part of the campaign, awareness classes will be provided to women on menstrual hygiene, physical and mental health, and lifestyle disease prevention to improve family health.
