The State Medicinal Plants Board (SMPB) Kerala runs several schemes to protect and promote the use of medicinal plants. These include conserving rare plants in their natural habitats and helping them grow back naturally or with human help. Local groups like forest committees, panchayats, and self-help groups are encouraged to grow these plants in other areas to support their income. The board also gives money for research on medicinal plants. It promotes setting up herbal gardens in schools, homes, and public places to spread awareness. Other schemes support plant nurseries and seed banks to grow healthy plants. There are also programs to share traditional knowledge about these plants. Many groups, like government departments, NGOs, and research bodies, can apply for these schemes.

Users can search the database based on how the plant is used in systems like Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy, or Allopathy, and by its natural features. This database is useful for researchers, medical professionals, and anyone interested in Kerala’s medicinal plants.
