Stroke is defined as an abrupt onset of neurologic deficit that is attributable to a focal vascular cause. In India death due to stroke is between 84-262/100000 in rural and the same 334-424/100000 in urban areas. Stroke caused 699000 deaths in India in 2019 which is 7.4% of the total death.80% of Stroke is preventable, and one out of every four incidences of Stroke are recurrent. The high cost of Stroke care, ever rising price of secondary preventive drugs makes homoeopathy as a treatment of choice in prevention of Stroke. As far as care for survivors is concerned, they continue to live with disabilities requiring long term care to be provided by family members.

Shradha Project launched by Trivandrum corporation in coastal areas of the extending from Vizhinjam to Perumathura and Urban areas and covered by 12 Govt. Homoeo Dispensaries.

Pilot study details conducted at Thiruvananthapuram Corporation had shown remarkable improvement. This data has led to the plan for expanding the project to Kollam district. 

Objectives of Project

• Screening high risk hypertension and Diabetic patients in the areas of cities like Kollam. 
• Prevention of recurrence among Stroke-affected peoples with Coronary Artery Diseases, Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus and Transient Ischemia or Minor Stroke.
• Medicinal and Physiotherapist intervention in the management of disabilities resulting after Stroke. (Within one year and long-term disabilities)
