Infrastructure at IMHANS

The Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (IMHANS) operates from its own campus within the Government Medical College campus in Kozhikode. A four-storied building, constructed under the Government of India's Centre of Excellence project, houses the institute's core facilities including outpatient services, the Child Development Services (CDS), inpatient wards, seminar halls, classrooms, central library, and the Neuroscience Research Laboratory.
The main building is divided into two blocks:
• Block A: Hosts the child development services, autism center, administrative and examination wings, and the central library.
• Block B: Accommodates general psychiatry clinics, seminar halls, classrooms, dining facilities, and the neuroscience laboratory.
Additionally, IMHANS operates:
• Rehabilitation Centre: Established in 1989, this unit runs a sheltered workshop functioning as a printing press and manufacturing notebooks, files, and binders. • Community-Based Rehabilitation Centers: Includes satellite facilities like "Puthujeevan" in Feroke, extending the institute's rehabilitation reach. • Center for Interdisciplinary Brain Sciences (CIBS): Established in 2022, this flagship research center addresses psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders and undertakes neurodiagnostic investigations.
IMHANS stands as a multidisciplinary institution with modern facilities dedicated to clinical, educational, and research activities, all working towards mental health advancement in Kerala.
