Under Genetic and Metabolic Unit, chromosome analysis (Karyotyping) using blood samples have been started during the year 2014, the first of its kind in public sector in Kerala.
Phase II of Genetic and Metabolic Unit of CDC :
Standardizing and diagnosis based on FISH (Fluorescent Insitu Hybridization), the first of its kind in Government sector in Kerala was started. The introduction of this new testing facility will help in diagnosing new diseases and to rule out Aneuploidy conditions and Microdeletion syndromes prevailing among children and adolescents.
IV. Started Biochemical tests in the lab :
CDC has started doing important Biochemical tests like Thyroid profile, Vitamin D, Complete Blood Count etc. for the newborns and infants coming to CDC for various therapy issues and also children referred from SAT Hospital with Down syndrome and other Genetic disorders.
V. NABL Accreditation to CDC Clinical Research Lab (Genetic & Metabolic Lab) CDC – Genetic and Metabolic Laboratory has certified as NABL Accredited Laboratory. This lab is the first clinical lab in Government sector in Kerala to obtain NABL Accreditation.
