Digital Health,Kerala Implements E-Health System in 653 Health Institutions

Kerala has successfully implemented a Digital Health system by leveraging modern technological innovations in the healthcare sector. The e-health system is now operational in 653 health institutions across the state, including 17 medical colleges, 22 district/general hospitals, 26 taluk hospitals, 36 social health centers, 487 family health centers, 50 urban family health centers, 10 specialty hospitals, 2 public health laboratories, and 3 other health centers. The system is also in its final phase of implementation, enabling online appointment bookings at 80 taluk, district, and general hospitals.
The e-health initiative in Kerala has been a major success. To date, over 1.93 crore people have registered for a permanent U.H.I.D. (Unique Health ID) through the e-health platform. In addition, more than 5.24 crore people have sought medical treatment via temporary registrations. A total of 11.84 lakh patients have been admitted and treated through the e-health system. More than 2.78 crore pre-checkups, 6.85 crore diagnoses, 4.44 crore prescriptions, and 1.50 crore lab tests have been conducted through the platform. The e-health system also offers online OP tickets and paperless hospital services, allowing patients to avoid long queues and obtain appointments in advance. This system ensures reduced waiting times for treatment.
How to Create a Unique Health ID
To access e-health services, individuals must first create a unique identification number. To do so, people should visit the website https://ehealth.kerala.gov.in and click on the registration link. Enter the Aadhaar number, and an OTP will be sent to the registered number. After entering the OTP, an online personal health ID will be generated, which can be downloaded from the portal. Upon first login, a 16-digit health ID and password will be sent via SMS to the mobile number. This information can then be used to book appointments at hospitals for a specific date and time.
How to Book an Appointment
Once individuals have their unique health ID and password, they can log in to the portal and click on "New Appointment." If there is a referral, they should enter the details and select the hospital and department. After choosing the desired date, available tokens will be displayed for that day. Patients can select the token that best fits their convenience. The token can also be printed, and an SMS with the token details will be sent. This token will be sufficient for hospital access. Additionally, patients can access their treatment details, lab results, and prescriptions through the portal.
For assistance, people can contact the helpline numbers: 104, 1056, or 0471 2552056, 2551056.
