The State Institute of Medical Education and Technology (SIMET), under the Government of Kerala, offers two primary nursing programs:

• B.Sc Nursing: A 4-year undergraduate program designed to prepare students as professional nurses and midwives. The curriculum emphasizes promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative healthcare services. Eligibility requires a 12th-grade pass in the science stream with at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (both theory and practical), and English. The annual intake is 60 students per college, with seats distributed as 85% for state merit and 15% for NRI candidates. The program is affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences and follows guidelines set by the Indian Nursing Council and the Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council.
• Post Basic B.Sc Nursing: A 2-year program aimed at diploma-holding nurses seeking to advance their qualifications. Applicants must have completed a General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and be registered with the Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council. This course is also affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences and adheres to the standards of the Indian Nursing Council.

SIMET operates multiple nursing colleges across Kerala, including locations in Palluruthy (Ernakulam), Malampuzha (Palakkad), Uduma (Kasaragod), Muttathara, Neyyattinkara, and Varkala (Thiruvananthapuram), Konni (Pathanamthitta), Nooranad (Alappuzha), Dharmadom and Thalipparamba (Kannur), and Tanur (Malappuram).
